When it comes to computers, people fall into two categories: Mac or PC. And there is incredible division – people are seriously hardcore about why they like one brand more than the other, and nothing you can say will change their mind. This is just the result of really strong brand loyalty. I on the other hand was a PC user most of my life, and only recently switched to Mac, but I still use both (typing on a PC as we speak). For my entire college career I had a PC desktop and a Mac laptop, both of which were used on a daily basis. With that being said, Mac is, in my opinion, a more superior machine with some really great features you just won’t find with a PC.

One of the first things that really appealed to me about Macs was the claim that they are much more secure and less likely to get viruses than PCs. Well, this has turned out to be absolutely the case. My PC has had so many viruses over the years that I’ve lost count. None of them have been fatal, yet, but they have caused numerous disruptions and countless hours of searching and destroying the infected files. Remember how just recently there was a huge concern over the Conficker virus? Well, while PC users were freaking out about it, I was fine because Macs were completely safe from it. It really is such a relief not having to worry about my computer crashing, details getting stolen, or losing years of data. I know – I’ve seen my sister go through TWO PCs that have died on her in the last few years.

Another thing that drew me towards a Mac was how user-friendly it was. At first it can be a bit intimidating because the layout and controls are quite different from a PC, but once you’ve played around with it for a while it ends up making so much more sense. It’s incredibly intuitive and makes navigating around the computer much quicker. And you really can’t beat the graphics – they are so clean and sharp and just feel really contemporary.

If you’re shopping for a new computer, I would highly recommend looking into purchasing a Mac. These are beautiful, safe, user-friendly machines and it’s something that you will have for a long time, a computer that is designe
