If you’re half as excited about the upcoming release of the new MacBook Pro as we are, you will be delighted to hear the news that we’re about to tell you. The news is so exciting that we won’t make you wait to hear about it. The new 15 inch MacBook Pro, according to recent reports, will have USB 3.0 ports, a slimmer design, and the Retina Display screen. Now that we’ve got it out of the way, let’s discuss this recent development and break it down piece by piece.
First of all, we said that the new 15 inch MacBook Pro will have USB 3.0 ports. Apple has apparently been looking into USB 3.0 technology for quite a while now, and they are finally going to implement it with the 15 inch MacBook Pro. Although it is similar to the current Thunderbolt technology that Apple has, reports are indicating that USB 3.0 will not replace the Thunderbolt technology, but rather complement it. This ensures that the device will have no shortage of high speed ports.
We have been hearing about a thin design for the new MacBook Pro for quite some time now; many reports have been comparing it to the ultra-thin design that the MacBook Air pioneered. Newer reports, however, have proven this rumor to be false, as the so-called “tapered design” of the MacBook Air will not be present on the new MacBook Pro. The 15 inch MacBook Pro will feature a slim design, much thinner than the current MacBook Pro, but it will not have the same tapered design that the MacBook Air has. We know that it will be thinner due to reports indicating that the optical drive has been removed from the 15 inch MacBook Pro. This was likely done to help accommodate the thinner design, but when you think about it, optical drives are rarely used these days. With higher speed internet connections, almost every piece of software you will need is legally obtainable by download. One minor cosmetic change to help fit in with the slimmer design is that the power button will be on the keyboard, as opposed to above the keyboard. This can already be seen on the current MacBook Air.
The third and final recent development is that the new 15 inch MacBook Pro will feature the Retina Display. For those of you who aren’t familiar with what the Retina Display is, it is a screen that is used on the iPad, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S. Out of all three of these new developments, this is by far the biggest development of the three. We can’t wait for the Retina Display to make its MacBook Pro debut, as there will be different resolutions available for customizing sharpness and size of images.
So with that being said, we still don’t have a release date for the new 15 inch MacBook Pro, but we are certain that the wait won’t be too much longer. Expect a summer release date for this revamped notebook.
